RESEARCH: Succesful log home owners all agree about the importance of proper research. Besides looking differently, log homes are also made, sold and built differently. Separate from the home itself, is the process of purchasing land, funding the home and its creation, and relocating. The process of purchasing and constructing a log home without proper research can be more of a challenge than it should be. COLLECT IDEAS: Collecting various ideas about the design and decorating of your dream log home is a very useful activity. Don't limit your research to the different log home magazines, use any magazine pertaining to home designs or decorating. Use them to look for details regarding the bigger picture. If you see a picture of a luxurious home or log home that realistically, is not in tune with your particular tastes or budget; dont stop there, look closer and you may spot a decorating idea, door, fireplace, etc. that may be perfect for your new log home. Creating a binder divided into different sections enables you to save and sort various pictures into future rooms. When it comes time to meet with a designer or log home representative such as Sara & Kevin from Elk Country Construction, your collection of ideas will be simple to go through and will convey your tastes, needs and wants more efficiently.

CHOOSE A LOOK: Although all log homes look great from the road, each and every log home is unique. After a closer inspection, they definately have some differences.
